Ratha Sapthami (Surya Jayanthi) 6-2-2014 -Photos

On the eve of Ratha Sapthami on Thursday, the 6th Feb 2014, Mathaji performed pooja in the peetam between 6 and 9 p.m. . She has bejeweled Lord Hanuman with calotropis plants, and chanted Anjaneya Dandakam and Adhithya Hrudayam. All the devotees with Mathaji have sung the 23 slogas of the chapter followed by chanting the slogas from Gita Mahathyam by Mathaji.
She initiated her upanyasam with the golden words:
Yath Bhavam Tath Bhavati
and delivered the discourse on the sixteenth chapter of Bhgavath Gita.
It was a very healthy interaction on this spiritual aspect. Her speech touched the inner conscience of everyone and made us to feel the importance of 26 features that one should remember to make one’s life a meaningful one. This was because of magnificent thoughts and in-depth concentration of Mathaji on the slogas of Bhagavath Gita. Finally she also explained the significance of Ratha Sapthami.
We pray to Lord that Mathaji will enlighten us with such exemplary discourses also in future forever for the purification of mankind.

Tamil                                      Telugu                                        English

We may see the Devathas or not in our life, but the divine presence of God Surya Deva is Omnipresent.  Forefathers know that Surya  is a planet, still they gave respect and status equivalent to God Shriman Narayana and adore sun as Suryanarayana Swamy.  Shri Suryanarayana Swamy is the one who blesses us all to lead a happy life.  Praying with good heart and good deeds is the only way we pay our obeisance to HIM.
Darkness vanishes when Sunlight comes.  Who is aware of this ? Only those who open the doors see brightness.  Likewise you can also realize the presence of brightness like sunlight when you open the doors of your Mind & Soul.
On this auspicious day early morning before sunrise drop some pieces of Elanthapazham {Regu Pandulu (Telugu) or JUJUBE in English} in water you bathe.  Erukkam Leaf (Arka leaf) is an another important aspect of the day.  Everybody will take holy bath by placing 7 Erukkam leaves on their body.   There are many medicinal values and scientific reasons in taking such baths.  Our Sastras say that many kind of illness and diseases get cured by this bath.  He who takes a bath at the time of sunrise is purified like Mother Ganges.
Early morning on Ratha Sapthami day between 6am to 7 am sprinkle water, clean the place where sunlight falls, Put Rangoli (Kolam).  Make a fire place (Stove) put dry cowdung and fire; prepare Sakkarai Pongal (sweet rice with gur) and offer Naivedyam to Surya Narayana Swamy, the omnipresent God we see everyday.  Pray with red  color flowers, donate wheat .  Those who have Surya Graha Dosham can chant RAVI GRAHA JAPAM, Adithya Hridayam and Surya Dhandakam.  Atleast Chant Surya Gayatri Eleven (11) times on that day.
SRI SURYA GAYATHRI
OM  BHASKARAYA VIDHMAHEY ,  MAHA  THEJAAYA   DHEEMAHI
THANNO SURYA PRACHODAYATH.
During Sunrise perform Surya Namaskaram facing sun.  It is said that doing Surya Namaskaram even once a year on Ratha sapthami day will give you good health for the whole year.  Good actions done on this day give manifold results.  This day is very powerful.  That’s why our forefathers have advised us to make it a practice to do Surya Namaskarams daily.
Scientifically all planets revolve around the sun.  When the earth rotates and revolve around sun, we get day and night.  Our day-to-day life starts with sunlight and ends when darkness fall.  No life without Sunlight.  Sunrays destroys many germs and bacterias unseen to x-rays and scanners. Young babies kept 10 minutes in early morning sunlight gets multiple vitamins and strengthens body.  In today’s fast life, even 5 minutes of such exposure protects us from diseases.
God Surya Narayan Swamy is the Guru of Lord Anjaneya Swamy and when I came to know that Anjaneya Swamy learnt Nava Vyakarnas from Him, I decided to practice the above ritual every year.
Surya Narayana Swamy does not gain anything from Ratha Sapthami.  Only we, humans, pay our respect and thank Him for the benefits we gain from Sun by celebrating Ratha sapthami.
All Devotees can celebrate Ratha Sapthami at their open places.
On Monday, 30th January 2012 – Ratha sapthami day at 6.00 Am  , we conduct Sri Surya Narayana Swamy’s Sthothra Parayanam and Sathsangam at Sanjeevini Peetam.
With Warmth Blessings,
MATHAJI.

 SRI  VISHNU  SAHASRANAMAM  BIRTHDAY

The most important character of Mahabharatha was Bheeshma. Bheeshma Pithamaha had the boon that ,he could die at the moment he desired to die [ Ischa  maranam ]. Bheeshma even though lying on his bed of arrows, waits for Uttharayana Punyakaalam and on Ekadasi, with Sri Krishna’s divine blessings and in the presence of Sri Krishna, reveals the most sacred, holy ,religious, divine dharma to Dharmaraja. This is SRI VISHNU SAHASRANAMAM.
Bheeshma was known for his good administration, service-mindedness,  great and noble personality, firmness of mind and clear actions. These invaluable qualities made him a super hero in Mahabharatha. He, life long kept up to the 2 promises he had made. So, he is also called ”the terrible promise maker”. Bheeshma was the other name for Dharma. Even Devathas having doubts on dharma, came to Bheeshma for clarification.
Approximately 5000 years before, Bheeshma was chosen by Sri Krishna to reveal and recite Vishnu Sahasranamam. The fruits of his good deeds committed in his previous birth, led him to recite Vishnu Sahasranamam. VISHNU SAHASRANAMAM  BIRTHDAY  is famously called  BHEESHMA  EKADASI.
To express the qualities of Bheeshma is not possible, because his experiences were greater and mightier. Though on the adharma side, to keep up to his promises, he was compelled to fight the Dharma yuddham. In spite of facing many difficulties, he did not give up his dharma. Finally, he merged with Sri Krishna.
Even though today’s society is full of adharma, try to follow the path of dharma as said in Bhagavath Gita. Have Bheeshma Pithamaha as your role model and follow dharma without giving it up. Never take the side of adharma. Follow the path of dharma in one hand and see the instant result in the other hand.  INSTANT RESULTS CAN BE SEEN IN THIS KALIYUGAM , EVEN IF IT IS ADHARMA.
At this time we should remember a beautiful message said by Lord Anjaneya-”JEEVAN   BHADHRANI PASHYANTHI”,  “meaning  only if you are alive, we can experience good things”. Follow dharma, think before you act, gain knowledge and we can see the over all difference in ourselves i.e changing for the good. After this difference, our every step will be a Yogam . That is KARMA YOGAM. Like Hanuman said, follow the above  procedure and enjoy the fruits of your good deeds when you are alive.
                                                                                                -Mathaji
