Mangalagiri – Sree Panakala Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy 26-1-2013.
24 Feet Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Ekasila prathima {single stone} at Guhalaya, Undavalli Caves {AP}

Mangalagiri is situated 12 km from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. According to the sthala purana (mythology) , this is the place where Lord Narasimha swamy killed a rakshasa named Namuchi who was hiding in the micropit in Mangalagiri. To kill this Rakshasa Namuchi hiding in the pit of Mangalagiri, Lord Narasimha swamy entered in Sudarshana Chakram and through his Nishwasagni ( fire of breath)  he ended the life of this Rakshasa. Then visualizing the Ugra Narasimha Avatara, Devatas immediately pleased  him by offering him the Devaloka  Paniyam i.e. Amritham. Lord quoted that in Kritayuga by accepting Amritam, Tretayuga-ghee, Dwaparayuga-cow milk, in Kaliyuga- jaggery syrup, he would shower his blessings on us. Since the offerings are in the form of sweet jaggery syrup to the Lord, he is called as “Panakala Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy”. We can hear the gulping sound of drinking the syrup by the Lord, when we offer to him. This is really a miracle. The other amazing fact is that he accepts half the syrup from the devotees and remaining gives us as his prasadam. We cannot predict that where this hundreds of pots of syrup goes offered to the Lord. We will be surprised  to see the syrup spilled area without a fly or an ant. Elders say that, in the Universe when Dharma is totally vanished and ending of yuga is very close by, then gathering of flies and ants starts near the spilled area of the syrup.

We have to climb 500 steps to reach the hill point where the Swayambhu Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy idol is situated. The temple is opened only during Morning hours. Inside the temple, along with the main diety , we can see the idols of Prahlada, Leelavati and the Kshetrapalaka of the place is none other than  our Lord Hanuman. At the back of the temple, Lakshmi Devi temple is also is located. Another amazing fact is that the Dwajasthambam is in the southeast direction i.e. in Agneyam. The idol of Lord Anjenaya at the sides of the hill  views in a very dignified manner and appears as if he is obstructing the landslides from dropping down.

Each one of us should visit this place. In India, every Anu (step) is very sacred. That too, if we sit for 24 minutes in these sacred places with a full dedication,concentration, everything will be visualized to us. We can get rid of Papa Karmas. We get sathbuddhi and with that we get good thoughts to lead our future life in a peaceful manner. You may think that your problem have not washed away though you visited these places several times. But it is not that happened. Our shadow is always with us.So when visiting such places we have to spend sometime in a peaceful mind, dedicate, surrender ourselves to the Lord. So that we will be freed from all the evil shadows. In this Kshetras(places)  by doing such things, even if thousands of peoples get rid of their Papa Karmas in this Kshetras, this place will not loose the power of sacredness. Hence these Kshetras are empowered with a great wealth of shakthi.

But anyhow I underwent a great great experience. This is my personal feeling.

Jai SriRam.
Lots of Hanumath smaranams,
